Activities
We do hold weekly meetings. However, we do not simply aim to discuss topics relating to Hindu culture but we aim to bring them into practice. We work towards building a strong character through practicing the elements of our culture. A strong character cannot be forged by mere discussion. It needs all round development - intellectual, physical and spiritual.
To that end we have physical activities like yoga, games, martial arts, dance etc… It is a thrill to play Indian games like kabaddi and kho-kho. Games allow you to work as a team and relate informally to make new friends. Yoga has come back in style and is covered widely in the media today. It forms an integral part of our meetings. Martial arts and dancing complete the physical aspect of character building.
Intellectual activities like discussions, debates and workshops on topics such as ancient scriptures, issues concerning hindus, biographies, history etc… are of course a necessity in a university student organization. Spiritual activities like bhakti(prayers, bhajans) and meditation, all find their way in our weekly meeting. In short our weekly meetings try to encompass as many of these facets as is possible. We call this kind of meeting as ‘shakha‘.
Besides this we hold a sewa activity every quarter such as packing food for the homeless, cleaning public parks, etc… We organize an variety of events such as youth camps, summer camps, etc…
We would love to see you join us and are always open to feedback/suggestions.
